Thanks to:
Northbourne Oval has been the birthplace of some of Canberra’s greatest
— from Katrina Fanning to Jarrod and Jason Croker.
To celebrate the centenary of this ground, a new mural within the precinct, will celebrate the legends whose stories started right here.
In 50 words or less, tell us who you think should feature in this community mural.
Open to all codes, and all roles – from players to coachers or staff. Make sure you have the permission of whomever you are nominating. Our team may be in touch to feature your story as part of the centenary celebrations – both throughout the year and as part of the Heritage Festival in April/May 2026.
Submissions close Sunday 28 June 2026.
The project was supported with funding made available by the ACT Government under the ACT Heritage Grants Program.
Jared Croker - club and community legend. Represents what it means to be a Raider and an inspiration for grass roots rugby league in the region. - Brad
Josh Papalii. Enough said! - Joe
I would submit 2 both former captains. 1st Alan Tongue was a fearless leader who always threw himself into whatever role was needed to be filled at the time and was a high inspiration of why I started following the club. 2nd Jarrod Croker - no more to say other than he's my all time favourite player and his statistics and personality speak for themselves. - Blake
Katrina Fanning is a good idea. Also any of the all-time Indigenous team... also look locally historically for some local Indigenous rugby league players - pre-Raiders even... Boomanulla. Take the opportunity to tell a story that should be told, that hasn't been so much.. - Donald
Ricky Stuart.
There should not even be a discussion. He is a local of the region, a decorated player and most capped coach. He bleeds Green - Brett
Ricky Stuart
Local, Legend - Tony
Bradley Clyde - considered by many (including Premiership winning Raiders players) as the best rugby league player of all time from this region.
Graham Willard - A respected local coach who won multiple premierships in women’s rugby league in Canberra, especially with the Woden Rams. Graham was also the first coach of the Jillaroos, the Australian Women’s Rugby League Team in 1995.
